Aquinus Street

A mixed housing development comprising 10No split level houses, 3No flats and a special needs handicapped persons bungalow.

This inner city site is low lying with a high water table. The Northern half of the site was raised by 4m. Programming was complex because of restricted access. The buildings were founded using 600mm diameter CFA piles and heavily reinforced insitu concrete ground beams. Steps and staggers were a feature of the traditional construction, which utilized precast floors, masonry cavity external walls, weather struck pointeing, trussed roofs and high performance double glazed windows. Garden access is provided by metal stairs with balconies. Ornate metal gates and railings ensure a secure environment and access is fully controlled by a entry call system.
