Edward Street, SE8

This development is a medium term rehabilitation facility for discharged patients.

The 10No one bedroom and two bedroom flats and the 1No two bedroom wheelchair flat provide independent living accommodation. The development is however supported by live-in staff with separate accommodation, full laundry and common kitchen facilities and provides a communal lounge and TV room looking out onto a mature well stocked garden. The site was a former petrol station and required us to remove the shop, canopy, pumps and underground fuel tanks, which had to be decommissioned. Foundation design was complex. The construction is precast floors, trussed roofs, masonry cavity and partition walls. Windows and staircases are metal polyester powder coated aluminum and glass and the building is served by a hydraulic lift. Full warden call and fire alarm services are linked to a central control unit.
