Park Street, Brighton, East Sussex

The scheme comprised the demolition of the existing bus garage and the design and construction of 17No new terraced houses in three blocks with access road and parking facilities for all units.

The 11No 2 Bed houses, 5No 3 Bed houses and 1No wheelchair house were built of timber frame, clad with local brickwork and rendered in pastel shades of "Cemrend". Level thresholds were provided throughout and the wheelchair unit was fully fitted for disabled use with stair lift, disabled kitchen and bathroom. Both the houses and associated external works were constructed wholly within the confines of the original lowered and refurbished garage walls, providing a safe and secure family environment for residents. Local small business's were used to manufacture and supply the decorative metalwork which have been used within the hard landscaping works to good effect. Overall, the scheme blends very well into the local conservation area.
