14-16 Camplin Street SE14
A Design & Build project of 2No new houses one front and one side accessed, for Hexagon Housing Association on a long term vacant site.
The front elevation was constructed to match exactly the existing street façade in this conservation area. The development was particularly tricky because a large egg shaped Victorian brick built sewer runs beneath the house at 4m depth. Raft and cofferdam foundations were designed and installed to spread foundation loadings. Extensive party wall strengthening and repair work was required. Construction comprised beam and block ground floors, insulated cavity walls and trussed roofs. Double glazed traditional double hung sash timber windows were used as a planning requirement and natural slate roof coverings. Insulation standards are high. Zurich Municipal insurance cover was provided.
