1 Summit Road, London E17
This 6 bedroom residential care home of traditional construction on two storeys, was designed and built for the Circle 33 Housing Trust and Forest Healthcare as part of the “Care in the Community” initiative in only 20 weeks.
Set amongst mature trees, the piled foundations had to be precisely located due to British Rail’s mainline railway passing beneath the building. Because of this and the compact nature of the site, the ground floor slab and beams were designed to cantilever over a the top of the railway tunnel The property was fully equipped for the disabled and included a passenger lift, specialist bath and shower room, fully adjustable kitchen and boasted an enormous communal lounge.
