Addison Road, E17

This project comprised the demolition of existing warehousing and the construction of two separate but linked Care Homes.

The accommodation provides 8No bedsits and a wheelchair user bedsit together with communal facilities and an office. The site was heavily contaminated with buried asbestos insulation and safe removal and cleansing of the site involved close liason with the Planning Authority and Health & Safety. The buildings are of traditional construction with strip foundations, cavity masonry walls, precast floors and trussed roofs. An internal courtyard and garden links the two buildings which are occupied by people recovering from drug and alcohol dependency.
